Ascension Parish Trash Bash seeks 400 volunteers for April 20 event

Ascension Parish government, in partnership with Keep Ascension Beautiful, announced the third annual Ascension Parish Trash Bash, scheduled to take place April 20 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Ascension Parish government, in partnership with Keep Ascension Beautiful, announced the third annual Ascension Parish Trash Bash, scheduled to take place April 20 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Organizers hope to sign up 400 volunteers for the event.

A cornerstone of Love The Boot Week, the event aims to empower residents of Ascension Parish to actively participate in beautifying and cleaning the community.

The Ascension Parish Trash Bash is affiliated with Keep Louisiana Beautiful, a department within the Louisiana Office of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.

The event will address litter reduction, beautification, recycling, and road clean-up across the parish.

Volunteers from all corners of Ascension Parish are encouraged to join in this one day clean up.

Four secure locations have been designated for the event:

  • Butch Gore Park: 14550 Harry Savoy Rd, St. Amant
  • LA-1: DPW West, 2171 Thibaut Dr., Donaldsonville
  • Edenborne Pkwy: Lamar Dixon, 9039 St. Landry Ave., Gonzales
  • Parker Rd. (44-929): Prairieville Primary, 17002 HWY 929, Prairieville

Volunteers can register for the event at Lovetheboot.org. In appreciation of their service, they will receive a complimentary T-shirt and lunch.

"Trash Bash is a great day for people of all ages and from all walks of life to join to collectively demonstrate our love for the appearance of Ascension Parish," Ascension Parish President Clint Cointment said. "When visitors come to Ascension Parish, it’s our goal to create the most welcoming environment and it starts with clean streets, parks, and schools."
