Public hearing on Ascension Parish millage rates scheduled for June 6

Ascension Parish government announced in a news release a public hearing will be held June 6 at the parish courthouse in Donaldsonville to consider millage rates.

The courthouse is located in the parish seat at 300 Houmas Street.

According to the notice provided by parish government spokesperson Pamela Matassa, the estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next tax year from the increased millage and the amount of increase in taxes will be:

• Parish tax - $4,929,437 (estimated tax revenues to be collected in the next tax year from the increased millage); $48,498 (amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase)
• Parish tax (in Donaldsonville) - $33,921; $2,010
