LSU women's basketball lands Arkansas forward Jersey Wolfenbarger from transfer portal

LSU women's basketball has begun what seemingly has become its annual transfer portal purge.

On Monday, one day after advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament, LSU landed a commitment from Arkansas transfer combo player Jersey Wolfenbarger.

Wolfenbarger was in attendance for the Tigers' win over Middle Tennessee in the second round March Madness game inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The former five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American brings plenty of versality to LSU that could possibly be without Angel Reese inside. Wolfenbarger's 6-5 frame fits into what Mulkey was looking for to add after this season but her ability to step out and knock down the 3-ball will create an added dimension that Kim Mulkey hasn't had in Baton Rouge.

In two full seasons with Arkansas, Wolfenbarger averaged 5.6 points and 3.8 per game. But with other scorers like Makayla Daniels, Samara Spencer and this season freshman Taliah Scott, Wolfenbarger wasn't expected to be among the top options for Mike Neighbor's team.

Wolfenbarger earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors in 2021-22, a season she posted 7.5 points per game, made more than 40% of her shots from the floor and had 27 blocks.

With Aalyah Del Rosario and Aneesah Morrow returning for LSU for certain and hopefully Sa'Myah Smith comes back healthy from the knee injury she suffered earlier this season, the post for the Tigers in 2024-25 will have more size.
