Meet the 2020 boys basketball Dandy Dozen

The Clarion Ledger chose these athletes based on high school accomplishments and consultations with coaches and basketball minds around Mississippi to be apart of the 2020 team.

Rashad Bolden, St. Andrew's

St. Andrews Rashad Bolden

Senior | Guard

The two-time Dandy Dozen and member of the 2020 Clarion Ledger All-State boys basketball first team averaged 25.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game as a junior for St. Andrew's (29-6) last season.

Bolden finished with 25 points and six rebounds in a win over Velma Jackson in the 3A state championship game. 

Tynerious Daniels, Jefferson Davis County

Senior | Guard

Daniels averaged 25 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals per game for the Jaguars (23-9) in 3A last season.

Daniels was a member of the 2020 Clarion Ledger All-State boys basketball second team, and he was also selected to play in a MAC Mississippi North vs. South Junior All-Star Game.

Joseph Dupree, Murrah

Senior | Forward

Dupree was a member of the 2020 Clarion Ledger All-State boys basketball fourth team, and he led the Mustangs to the 6A title game, averaging 17 points and four rebounds last season for Murrah (20-11).

Dupree is a Jackson State commit.

Jacob Gazzo, Parklane

Sophomore | Forward

The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 16.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game for Parklane as a freshman. Gazzo is a great shot blocker, in addition to having high awareness offensively around the basket.

Scouts have described him as "the most interesting prospect in 2023."

The two-sport star has been offered by Ole Miss in basketball and baseball.

Kimani Hamilton, Clinton

Junior | Forward

At 6-8, Hamilton can stretch the floor, get into passing lanes and attack the basket.

Last season, he averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Arrows (23-9). Clinton advanced to the second round of the 6A playoffs, before losing by one-point to eventual-champion Starkville.

Chris Keys, Jr., Quitman

Senior | Forward

CJ Keys was a member of the 2020 Clarion Ledger All-State boys basketball second team.

As a junior, he led the Panthers to a 25-7 season averaging 24 points, 8.5 rebounds, four assists, 2.5 blocks and 2.5 steals per game. Keys' best scoring performances were 47, 43, 39 twice and 38 points. Quitman made the 4A playoffs, and he was selected to play in a MAC Mississippi North vs. South Junior All-Star Game.

Joshua Lee, Hartfield Academy

Hartfield Academy senior Josh Lee has been named to the Clarion Ledger 2020 Dandy Dozen.

Senior | Guard

The 2020 Clarion Ledger All-State boys basketball third team member averaged 23.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists for 3A state runner-up Velma Jackson.

Lee led the Falcons to a 29-6 record before transferring to Hartfield this offseason, and he was selected to play in a MAC Mississippi North vs. South Junior All-Star Game.

Jabarie Robinson, Raymond

Junior | Guard

The 2020 Clarion Ledger All-State boys basketball fourth team member led the Rangers (25-8) in scoring with 15.4 points per game last season.

He also averaged five rebounds and 4.6 assists per game for Raymond, which advanced to the 4A championship game.

Daeshun Ruffin, Callaway

The three-time Dandy Dozen has made a name for himself nationally.

The 2020 Clarion Ledger All-State boys basketball first team member averaged 26 points, four rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.9 steals for the Chargers (25-5) as a junior. Ruffin ended the year with a 33-point, MVP performance in Callaway's win over Center Hill in the 5A state championship game.

The Ole Miss commit was also named the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year.

Zach Shugars, Ingomar

Senior | Guard

Shugars led the 36-2 Falcons to a 1A state championship his junior year.

After a Baldwyn tied the game on a putback with less than 10 seconds remaining, Shugars brought the ball up and received one screen at the top of the key before getting open and drilling the game-winner at the buzzer.

He averaged 12 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Shugars was selected to play in a MAC Mississippi North vs. South Junior All-Star Game.

Carlous Williams, Harrison Central

Senior | Forward

The two-time Dandy Dozen averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Red Rebels (26-5) last season, where Harrison Central advanced to the 6A semifinal. 

Williams was a member of the 2020 Clarion Ledger All-State boys basketball second team, and the South Carolina commit was selected to play in a MAC Mississippi North vs. South Junior All-Star Game.

Coltie Young, Starkville

Senior | Guard

The 2020 Clarion Ledger All-State boys basketball fourth team member averaged 15 points and four rebounds last season as a junior.

Starkville (29-2) finished the season by winning the 6A state championship.
